CaffeineLog -- Version 1.0.0 -- iOS 17.0+

Frequently Asked Questions

How does caffeine tracking work?

When you log a beverage, CaffeineLog adds its caffeine content to your current level. The app then models caffeine metabolism using a half-life decay formula — caffeine has an average half-life of about 5 hours. Your level updates in real time throughout the day.

How is the half-life decay calculated?

CaffeineLog uses the standard pharmacokinetic half-life model for caffeine. Each logged intake decays exponentially over time with an approximate 5-hour half-life. The remaining caffeine from all your drinks is summed to show your current total level.

How do sleep recommendations work?

The app estimates when your caffeine level will drop below a sleep-friendly threshold (typically around 50mg). Based on your logged intake and the decay model, it suggests the earliest time you can expect quality sleep without caffeine interference.

Where is my data stored?

All data is stored locally on your iPhone using on-device storage. Nothing is uploaded to any server or cloud service. If you delete the app, all your caffeine logs and analytics are permanently removed.

What beverages are supported?

CaffeineLog includes a built-in database of popular caffeinated beverages including espresso, drip coffee, cold brew, various teas, energy drinks, sodas, and more. Each entry has accurate caffeine content. You can also log custom amounts.
